AWARDS RULES.
Welcome to the British Wedding Film Awards – we’re here to celebrate outstanding wedding filmmakers across 20 categories. The rules are simple and designed to keep things fair and inspiring. By entering, you agree to follow these guidelines, which help us celebrate excellence together.
Submission
Guidelines.
Submission Window — Submissions open 1 May 2025 and close 1 December 2026.
Submission Format — Submit films digitally via a link (e.g., Vimeo, VidFlow, YouTube).
Entry Fee — An entry fee of £31.50 per film, per entry is required. Please ensure payment is completed alongside your submission form.
Multiple Entries — You can submit the same film across different categories or different films within the same category. Each entry requires a separate submission and fee.
Accessible Link — The film must be available to view at the time of submission. Password-protected links will not be accepted and no refund will be issued.
Private Links — Private links are allowed, provided they do not require a password to access (e.g., unlisted on YouTube). It is the filmmaker’s responsibility to ensure the link can be accessed by the judges with no password restrictions.

Production Date — Eligible films must have been filmed from 1 January 2025 onwards
Film Length — Films of any length are welcome, though we recommend 10 minutes or under to help with judging and maximise screening opportunities on the festival night
Eligibility — Entries are open to all videographers and content creators, UK and international.
Ownership — Only the filmmaker owning the footage can submit; editors cannot submit a film.
Category Allocation — Judges reserve the right to reallocate a wedding film entry to a different category if they feel it is better suited, ensuring each film is judged in the most appropriate context.
Music Licensing: For all categories except ‘Best Social Edit’, no copyrighted music may be used unless properly licensed or obtained with explicit permission for use in the film.
Content restrictions: You must have rights to all footage, and content used.
Language — Films shot in the couple’s native language are eligible. However, filmmakers must ensure that films with non-English dialogue include subtitles or translations.
Original Work — Only original work created by you or your team is allowed.

Each award category has its own set of specific criteria to ensure a fair and focussed evaluation based on the unique nature of the category. These criteria help judges assess films based on the relevant strengths and qualities that matter most for each category.
